Toying with the idea of going to Meridian, my decision was easily outweighed due to recent fishing reports. I packed my gear up and headed on down to Stevens. This is only my 3rd time fishing the lake and after today it most certainly won't be my last. I was all set up and on the water by 6:15am. I got some advice from a local on where to go and how deep to fish for the kokes. I'm still new to the area so I'm not sure of land marks but I headed straight out from the boat launch for a while and then took a right and started my troll to what looked like city property. Hot spot is noted. Anyways this is where it begins!

Using two poles which I got my endorsement for the Chelan derby, I set one rod up with a dick nite pink splatter dodger paired with a Macks Lure Mini Kokanee pro in pink and hot pink smile blade. Second rod had a purple dick nite dodger with a hot pink tip. That was paired with another Kokanee pro but with a sliver blade. Dropped the gear down to 10ft and 15ft and within 1 min had a double landing one and losing the other. Really tricky in a pontoon boat. Anyways I had steady action for an hour landing 6 and losing a couple others. Then the bite shut down. Trolled for about an hour and a half with only small bumps. Looking at
My fish finder, I marked a ton of kokes at 25-30ft so I decided to drop the gear and chase some Marks. This was the best idea, and YES those deep fish will bite of you give them the right offering. Landed my last 4 fish for a limit, first ever on Stevens. As I was landing my 10th Koke my other rod goes off and this time around I had a cutthroat on the line. A bonus trout for the win! I noticed most bites were triggered when making a sharp inside turn and changing directions. These kokes will follow your lure for a while!

Side note, thanks to FISH DAWG for this combination idea of white shoe peg corn soaked in Shrimp/Prawn oil. I do believe that had a lot to do with getting the deeper fish to bite! Also, thanks for the downrigger stacking advice. It worked well!

Great report and congratulations on the limit! I plan on going this weekend. From reports it looks like they will bite anywhere from the surface down to 25 feet. Last weekend anything below 10 feet I couldn't garner any interest. Should make for an interesting day!

Nice work D.J. Hey if you ever want to head south to Merwin/Yale let me know. I plan on hitting it as often as possible and will sometimes be flying solo.

Glad to see you scored some nice fish using a couple of the things learned on Chelan! Nice report...I'm still looking forward to my first trip to Stevens...never fished there. Maybe we can make it a joint adventure and you can show me a thing or two!!
