Went fishing today. Air temp, low 50s. Surface water temp, low 50s.

Decided to boat all the way to the north end and see what happens. Got 1 nibble on a DS. Thinking it's a perch since it stole my bait. Working my way down, but going against the wind.

Found a little spot with some cover that had the water super slick. Was nice there for a bit. With it being so smooth, I spotted a ~2# LMB in shallow water. Maybe 2-3'. Looks like I was fishing too deep earlier.

I start chucking all my lures at it, but no action from it. Lost track of it as it was roaming. I pitch my DS on the dock right next to where I last saw it. Let it soak and nada. Reel it in and as I'm about to pull it out of the water, a fish jumps at it trying to grab it. Startled me, lol. Drop it back down and next thing I know, I'm surrounded by 6-7 LMB. Not giants. Looked like 12-16" range. They wouldn't bite the DS. One of them kept trying to attack my weight. I tie on weightless setups and nothing. I see them cruising around. Tried swimbait and tubes. Bah. I worked that area for about an hour trying to get something to bite.

I guess I'll have to go back to that area again next time. Stop off at a few other areas along the way with no action. I'm starting to get that skunk feeling again.....

Working a point with a football, I feel a tick, then a tap. Then weight. Set the hook and woot! Fish on!!!! Not a big one, but a bass is a bass. ~12" SMB. I'm thinking maybe I found the right spot. Worked that point a little bit longer. Only managed to get another bite on a DS, but it didn't stick.

Stopped off at a couple more points along the way and that's it. 1 fish for 5 hours of fishing in the wind and cold. But no skunk, so woot.

Did you try a jerkbait? Schooling largies and clear water, may have produced, keep it erratic and quick.

I want to, but can't until the end of this month due to the regulation on this lake.

Yeah, the single barb less really narrows your options lol. Do you have any recommendations of spots to try by the south end of the lake?

I've only fish the lower south end a few times. I never catch anything down there, so I don't bother anymore. I usually fish the upper 2/3s of the lake.
