On March 3, 2005 Washington Fish and Wildlife made two plants of catchable Rainbow Trout in Lake Mayfield. The first was 5,590 fish at 2.90 fish per pound. The second was 11,325 fish at 2.8 fish per pound.
Over all fishing conditions are improving on the lake. Fishing pressure is extremely light now but clear skies and warmer days have been driving up the activity level of fish and fisherman.
Rainbow Trout are being taken on Chartreuse Wedding Rings dressed with worms up near the Tilton River and near the Hwy 12 Bridge. A few fish have also been picked up trolling #4 1/2 Brass & Nickel Hildebrants and Power Bait around Lighthouse Island.
We are seeing more fish move up into the shallows and hanging under the docks near dusk.
River flows at Mayfield Dam are approximately 4,050 cubic feet per second on Sunday March 13.
