Got to Sprague Lake about 6:30am and started fishing. First time fishing the lake but neighbor says it's got big trout. A couple of boats out already but looked to be Bass fishing. Trolled Apexes and lures for about 3 hours but never marked a fish on our finder and no bites. Called it quits at around 11:00 am. Couple of boats came past and looked to be having no luck. Maybe still to cold. Did see that the lake has a couple of pretty hairy rock formations that come out of nowhere and would be trouble if the water was lower. Will try again in April.

Thanks for posting the report. I was on the East end of the lake on 3/26 and there was never a consistent bite, but I caught 4 good sized rainbows trolling (largest 19" 3lb15oz) plus two stocker sized rainbows. I was trolling at about 1.5 mph using only the electric motor with two lines back at least 100 feet. I switched around a bit with different plugs and most were caught on a rainbow trout X-rap. I'm not 100% sure but it seems as if the rainbow trout pattern is attractive to them. The fish are chock full of chironomids so I'm not sure if I am not getting my lures in front of many fish or they are just too fat and happy. I never mark fish on the finder at Sprague. I don't think it is too cold at all. I fished sprague twice in feb when the water was 38 and actually did better numbers wise fishing with husky jerks cast into shallow water. Did not get bit on the troll at all until this last trip saturday when I got nothing casting and everything was on the troll.

The WDFW public launch at the SW corner of the lake has a nice new dock. For a fee, each of the two resorts offer boat launching with Sprague Lake Resort now open. Four Seasons Resort is FOR SALE and I am unaware of their OPEN/CLOSED status.

We launched from the Four Seasons resort and it is still open. Costs $6.00, but lots of room and you don't have to worry about your vehicle. Had a friend use the Public launch and someone hit his truck and took off, so I find the cost worth it. Only drawback is a dirt/gravel road so things get dusty. Will give the lake another try in a bit, but this weekend it's off to Banks to hit the Walleye.

The new launch on the SW corner has no fee but a discover pass is required and the pass you get with your license is also valid.
