I decided to go out to Long Lake (Spokane) to give my best shot at catching some trout. The report/hot spot made last week had me eager to get to a place I can fish for trout that isn't a huge drive. Got to the water at 9:30 and fished powerbait off bottom about 12" and spun a brown trout 1/4 oz rooster tail. At about 10:20 ish I caught and landed a good 16" trout. It was my ONLY bite of the day and I'm glad to have landed it.
The water was super dirty, thus i was fearful of the fish not being able to see my lure. I figured for sure that the power bait would work but to no avail. I left before the rain came down and hit it again around 4:25pm. I tried worms and mallows of bottom at 16" and casted lures, rapalas, spoons, mepps, panther martin... nothing at all. I stuck it out until 6:20 or so then I packed it in.
Anyone know where the trout like to lay on those rocks past Tum Tum? Some places were deep, other not so much. The one I landed was about 12 feet deep.
It was fun, I hope to have better luck tomorrow!
