well, after a tough day in Sammamish, i headed (with my lovely mother and Gracie the WonderDog! again) to Beaver Lake for some more relaxing fishing. in years past, Beaver Lake has been stocked with "catchable size" rainbows at this time, however that didn't happen this year. so, after that, i didn't expect to catch anything. on top of all that, mom forgot her license! so she sat this battle out.

i fished from the boat launch across the lake from Beaver Lake Park

set my two poles up with a drop shot rig with a 4' leader. lots of milfoil in this lake, so needed enough leader to keep the powerbait out of it. one hook had orange power-eggs, the other pink/sparkle power-eggs with some yummy pro-cure "trophy trout" scent to make it even more delicious. there was a guy casting rapala crank baits for bass at the launch as well, so i reeled up a rod to make some room for him, but while i was doing that, it snapped in half!! crap!!! luckily, i brought an extra rod so i could set that one up. while that happened, a guy on the other end of the lake hooked a fish, a nice one from what my mom and i could tell. *a glimmer of hope*.

just two minutes later, my pole had the slightest little ticking going on. waited for a little while, and set the hook. he pulled right a way, and then the line went slack. so, i was reeling in thinking i lost him, and he started pulling again. just a little tiny pull though. he didn't start pulling until he saw the shore, and then he lit up. drag was peeling off my reel (4 pound test always makes it exciting) and the fight was on! got him into the net after a short fight, and he was a jumbo. YAHOOOO! a nice 2.5-3LB beautiful rainbow.

stayed for a little while longer and called it a day. not bad for a little over an hour of casual and simple fishing. it was nice to not deal with trolling for a trip. although, i will be out in the boat soon!

tight lines and good fishing!

I loved reading the story, and the use of yummy pro-cure "trophy trout" scent to make it even more delicious! What a pig, Good Job!

Hey I'm the guy (gal actually) who was across the lake from you! I wish I could have won the fight against the fish I hooked (it was a good size!), but it was satisfying getting to see someone else catch something that day! Good catch!

Two dude's and one mom, peering across the lake from one another. Both, fighting jumbo fish on the line, each pondering which is the bigger? Only one will actually know!

Drenchanayer! i am so sorry! i meant guy as in "person" i obviously said this in a rather gender specific way.

so terrible to hear about your fish! it put up a grand jumping display. quite the acrobat. mine was much less exciting.

i am sure you will get 'em next time!

tight lines to all!
