Saw the weather report the night before and I've been itching to take my new Pflueger for it's 1st spin (literally). Finally a morning of sun and zero wind.

Arrived at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island at around 0930. The skies were super clear and the sun was shining, the water around the docks at the old steam plant were steady calm and glass-like in its smoothness. There wasn't a soul out on the water. Water level was a bit lower than I am use to seeing it and it wasn't all that cold while standing in the sunlight.

I was fishing off the docks with a 1/2 oz P-Line Laser Minnow in the channel and around the dock. I guess I was just hoping to pick on a stray cut or anything really. Nary a bite, but that's alright because it was just nice to get the new equipment wet and to spend some alone time before heading off to work. I guess I can keep dreaming of a boat with a down-rigger, but for now, this was relaxing enough.

tight lines!

We have all been there without boats and still had fun. Keep at it and someday your time will come to have one also. Main thing is to just have fun and enjoy the day and God's blessing of being out there in His creation. I have a boat but don't always use it. Sometimes still enjoy fishing from the shore just as much.

When shore fishing Lake Washington this time of year, target water on the inside of the weed line, 20" of water and shallower. If you target deeper water, like what you find at the end of the docks at Luther Burbank, you need to be on the bottom. The transition depth, where the cutts suspend or surface feed is right around the 60' line come winter.

You may end up with more action fishing the docks at Enatai or Newcastle Beach. The waters are much shallower and interspersed with weeds, prime winter trout feeding grounds.

Thanks for the kind words livingston12. G-Man, thanks for the tips about the docks and the depth. Funny about the weeds, I remember when I was a kid and fishing the docks (over 20 years ago) there use to be Milfoil everywhere! I really haven't seen the stuff since then.
