I think I started fishing about 8:30am. I got to the lake by 8 but then once I got the motor started I didn’t know where I wanted to still fish at. Last year, I looked at my reports; I was at the south side of the lake. But this year the kokanee seemed to be on the north side. I was scouting both areas with my fish finder and settled on the north side by that big white house that is for sale. I anchored in 46 feet of water that was 64 degrees. This year the water is lower and warmer than last year.
I threw out the chum and started to get the rods ready. I didn’t see any fish on the screen so I threw out some more chum.
I had both rods out, holding them one in each hand. I got a bite on one then it went to the other but I missed with both rods on hooking the fish. This wasn’t too good a plan because I couldn’t concentrate on both at once so I stuck to just one after that.
I was watching the screen on the fish finder and saw that it looked like there was a fish at 15 feet. I was working at 25-30 feet. I reeled up and wiggled it a little and it was fish on!!! 14 inch male kokanee. Half hour later I got another but at 25 feet. I was using Wannafish A Lure Mini Still-fishing Spinner in red.
I got another one and a few more bites before I left at 10:30am.
I was able to see fish on the finder screen hitting my lure. I have a Lowrance Elite 5 with CHIRP and I had set the ping rate at fast. I thought that it was me shanking the lure but by the end of my time on the lake this morning, I realized that they had been fish attacking my lure. BUT since I was watching the screen and not my tip I probably missed several chances to jerk.

They are changing but the meat is still good.
