After limiting out on the sound for Coho so quickly this morning, I decided to launch out of Kenmore to help wash off the boat and gear. I motored down to the east side of the 520 bridge to try for some cutthroat. It look about 20 minutes of trolling around but I found my first fish. Ended up coming loose part way through the fight. No matter, reset the gear and 5 minutes later got the first fish to the boat. Ended up being 1 lbs 9 oz, so not very big for this lake but still fun to fish for. I reset and about 10 minutes later I got my third release. This one released right by the boat as I was steering away from some boats coming toward me. Reset again and got my last fish shortly after. This fish was about 2.5 lbs. I decided to change it up and head over to in front of the Kirkland marina to look for Coho. There were three other boats there trolling. I did see a group of 6 coho all coming airborne 50 ft from me. Cool to see that again. I only stayed for 20 minutes with no bits before heading home. I was using a Brad's Cutplug for the Cutthroat.

How deep were you fishing and what speed were you trying to maintain for the cut throat?
Thanks
Looking forward to trying coho

A big thank you for the up to the minute report , just what I was hopping to see for lake washington , Ive been itching to go try my luck for the cutthroat waiting out the sun all summer , even if they not big a ultra lite pole and reel makes it all to fun. I'm sure ya know about that nothing funner then watching your line straigthen out as they make that run to the top and go airborne like a rocket Yee Haa fish on ! Hang in there maybe the rains will come and bring the bigger fish inland . I was up at Neah Bay last week end visiting with an old friend Ric P better known as Jack Mackerel Seafoods The only Wolesale Buyer& Dealer in that neck of the woods He usually buys direct from the Indian Troller's almost every day all year long , hey He closed down until Oct because the three days I was the trollers were coming back empty even going 30 -45 miles out a big zipo too much sun to much food for the salmon to why go inland . just a thought.

I was in about 60 ft of water trolling just above the bottom. Since I had left my electric motor at home, I was using my main and kicking it in and out of gear. I was getting speeds as low as 1.3 and as high as 2.2. But with my electric I seem to like more in the 1.5 - 1.7 range.

I'm really excited to see the Cutts are biting again. Thanks for posting your report and hopefully we will see those beautiful coho in bigger numbers soon. I'll be back for them after great success last year. Tight lines.
