After not doing so well on Sunday on the Sound and the horde of boaters, I went to Cavanaugh Lake. I do love this place. As I was launching I asked a guy that was coming in how he did and said slayed them between the boat ramp and the south side of the lake just going back and forth at 25". Well, since its 2 pm already and I was alone, thought this was a grand Idea.
He was right, marking a ton of fish in that area. only 45" deep ish in that whole area. Had my first fish in 10 minutes and hooked up every 10 to 15 after that . Lost just as many as I kept and that's just as fun. These were much bigger fish than I have caught there all years. Largest was 14" and the smallest was 11". Just starting to get the attitude Jaw line. LOL Pulling Mack troll gear with a pink wiggle hootchie tipped with Mikes Pink Corn at just over 1mph. If I went over 1.3 the bite stopped and if I went under the same thing. Love those Mikes because they work at ANY speed, unlike the metal ones
I know it was Monday after the weekend, but the lake was empty. I seen two other boats just floating fishing and a few Jet skis far enough away that I could ignore them. Lake was glass calm and a slight breeze. Perfect. One of those days that everything just lined up to totally relax your mind.
