Got out this morning to try and beat the rain that was forecast. Other than a sprinkle of two, either the forecast was wrong or it missed me. Got on the lake around 7a and set up for a limit of Kokes.
I went with Doc's standard setup, double sided diamond dodger, short leader and two hooks tipped with corn. It worked for two quick Kokes, but then nothing. Tried switching up to Pink UV dodger and hooks, then a pink wedding ring, then a black wedding ring I built. The bite turned off.
Both of them I caught were a little dark along the back, but still in pretty good shape. Both males. The were caught off the wire at 30 feet.
Felt bad, a boat with a couple gentleman trolled by me to see if I had an extra downrigger clip. Apparently they had grabbed the wrong tackle box and didn't have any. I don't carry an extra, but after their day getting ruined, I'm going to get another to put in my box just in case I need it, or I can help fix someone else's bad morning.
I left a little after 11a, went home to drop off the boat and pick up some river gear to give it a go on the Puyallup. More on that in another report.
