Camped at lake Curlew @ Tiffany's resort from 7/26 till 8/2 with my folks and my two daughters, we fished here last year for our first time. This was our second visit to lake Curlew, and the trout fishing was just as ridiculous as last year. My Dad and I probably cleaned well over 100 trout!

We trolled wedding rings and many other lures the evening that we arrived, behind flasher gear and dodgers. We fished with and without downriggers, and 10-30 feet down seemed to be the range of success. Although we limited within a few hours, the still fishing we did for the rest of the week was much more productive. The fish we caught trolling were consistently smaller than the fish caught on the bottom.

The dock at Tiffany's was our hot spot. We mostly fished before noon and after 7pm because of the heat. We were generally using #4 octopus hooks, 2-4 foot leaders and slider weights, floated of the bottom with any combination of powerbait or similar dough, eggs, etc.... Would have used even larger hooks if I could have floated them, to keep the hooks out of their bellies. The white floating power eggs or gulp eggs were the hot producers, and adding garlic scent would get you hooked up even faster. The biggest fish from our group, at just under 3 lbs, had several old leaders streaming from his mouth, one of which had been wrapped around his fins long enough to scar into his skin. Several other 2 lb fish were caught, but most were less than a pound.

The bite after dark was the hottest, near the dock lights (never seen this anywhere else). Seemed to stop biting around 11pm consistently.
