This report is for 7/27/15, 7/28/15, and 7/29/15. My sister-in-law, and brother-in-law came up from Oregon to fish with my wife, and I on Baker Lake. For the 3 days we lost 17 (frustrating), and caught 22 sockeye. Every thing that had been working earlier this season didn't work this time. What did work was using a 00 gold star dodger with no tape (lots of flash, and movement), 12" long 30# Maxima Ultragreen, tied to a 2.5" (larger than normal) pink hoochie, silver smiley blade, bead, and 2 red 1/0 drop shot hooks, with small piece of coon shrimp on the front hook, speed 1.2 mph, down 48-60 ft. in the old Baker Lake. Don't need any scent, I tried 3 kinds, and no scent did just as good. Driving from the tiller is best because you will be constantly changing speeds. If you need to use a bucket or sock to slow your speed, one needs to zig zag to change the action of the dodger. Sockeye are notorious for following dodgers for long distances. Previously this time of the season I would be downsizing not upsizing. There would be a bite everyday at about 2:00 pm where we caught 2 to 4 fish each day. The picture is my sister-in-law, and brother-in-law with a days limit of sockeye.
