Lake Wenatchee Sockeye Fishing has returned!!!!!!! The numbers are getting better every day and the fish are biting extremely well on my guide boat. I left the house at 6am today and put the lines in at 7:30am today about 1 mile away from the closest fishing boat dead in the middle of the Lake. Four of us started two miles down from the head of the lake. We were all alone sitting in 238 feet of water dropping our gear down to 70 feet at 7:30. It took about two minutes to hook into the first fish and they just kept biting away from all the boat traffic near the head of the lake. What is the secrete to catching 16 fish in 1 3/4 hours after 7:30am in the morning?
1) depth management. Move one rod deeper to see if the fish are still going down. We ended up at 80 feet by 8:30am
2) Extra flashers on the downrigger ball. I string dodgers in groups of 3 on each downrigger ball to attract more fish
3) Bend my dodger into a banana shape for .8 to 1mph slow trolling.
4) Use (3) 2/0 barbless hooks spaced 1" apart from each other
5) Overall leader length 7"
6) I clip all my dodgers to ride 8" up from the ball and only 4' back.
7) I turn around if I had a great series of bites
These are a few of the tips that can help you bag more fish. The easiest way to bag more fish is to treat the entire family to a guide trip on my boat. I will guarantee everyone catches fish or you only pay half price. That is my Lake Wenatchee promise for 2015. How can you lose. All kids are free under the age of 18 as long as the minimum boat payment is made for the 4 hour trip. This season is going to be outstanding!!!
Any questions about techniques I will be glad to answer.. Happy times at Lake Wenatchee in 2015!!!
The Sockeye are biting fast...... Come and join us out on the water..
