Baker lake for the first time has me wanting to return. My brother and good friend Doug hit the lake at 5:30am and fished till 2pm. We went 2/2 with 2 other take downs. Ran 4 rods on the down diggers and got bite between 65 and 42 feet deep. Pink hoochies with a smile blade and cured shrimp behind a double d dodger was the offering. HUNDREDS of boats out there.300+. Seen about two dozen fish bloated, just really slow to reach any limits. Second fish was caught on my 5' ultralight $5 eagle claw rod. Couldn't move the fish and had to cut the engine, but what a fight. First fish was just under 5# and the second was just under 7#. Props to this website for helping with the information on the lake. Good times.

An ultra light Eagle Claw rod, battling a Baker lake Sockeye?????? What a battle that would be! Ever feel like that was too much stick for that
little Sockeye........lol!! What spinning reel was on that pole to winch in the fish?

Lol.. I believe it was my little Abu Garcia cardinal....sad to report that I found my rod broken though after this weekend of trolling. What great rod it was . It sure did pay for itself by winning be $300 bucks with a 9# carp a few years back. I'll miss her for sure. Now to find another cheap replacement.
