This post will actually cover both July 3rd and July 4th as my lady and I fished both days on Lake Washington. We launched at 6:45 at Magnusson Park and headed straight across to fish from Yarrow Point up to Juanita both mornings. This is our typical route, as we have had lots of success there over the years and I live close to this launch.
Anyway, on Friday we had 6 hookups, landed 5. All released unharmed - 3 kokanee, 1 rainbow, and 1 larger cutthroat. Fishing 40' down on the downrigger, 100' back from the clip. One side - Sepps chartreuse with pick splatter dodger and a chartreuse and pink Dick Nite, fronted by an Oregon Tackle scent chamber filled with ProCure Bloody Tuna scent. For Friday it doesn't even matter what I had rigged on the other rod as it was silent all day, even though I tried a couple different setups. All fish on Friday were caught on the chartreuse setup. All caught in about 3 hours from 7am to 10am. We got off the water at 10:30am to avoid the psychos who do not pay any attention to someone trolling along. heh.
On Saturday, We hooked 5 and landed 3 (see attached photo) 1 kokanee, 1 rainbow, and 1 larger cutthroat. I didn't really want to keep the rainbow, but he was bleeding pretty badly, so in the box he went. Since he was first in the box, I decide to keep more to have a good meal if we were lucky enough to get something else. We did! Same chartreuse set up as above on one rod, and on the other a Dick Nite dodger in gradient dark green to pick, followed by a pink UV z-ray from Mack's lure. Fronted by the scent chamber with bloody tuna scent. Rainbow and cuthroat both came on the pink z-ray set up, koke came on the dick nite. Same depth and distance as above. Same time coming off the water for the same reason. :)
Beautiful mornings, with some solid fishing. Wasn't lights out, but consistent. Lots of weeds to contend with on the north side of Kirkland, so we stayed more to the Yarrow Point side, and that is were we did most of the damage.
