This report is for both the 24th & the 25th. We arrived at the state park at 10:00 A.M. & were on the water by 11:00. We got 4 walleye and 10 perch & 1 catfish on the 24th. The walleye were all 18'' or better & the largest was 29'' & almost 7 pounds. The largest one that I've ever got. It was caught on a small green wedding ring tipped with a worm. The others were caught on a slow death with a green blade. We hit the water on the 25th by 7:00 A.M. & fished till 10:00 A.M. We got 2 nice 20'' walleye & 4 more perch. All caught on a slow death & green blade & worm. My fishing partner got tired of trying to thread a worm on the slow death hook, so he just piled a gob on, & guess what, he caught all the walleye except my big one. We were fishing in the wasteway at 10' to 20' deep.
Just a heads up that the fish cleaning station at the state park is inoperable & the rate is $30 a night for a tent site. Beware of the air matttress puncture goat head burrs that are prevalent. They poked through my tent bottom, a wool blanket, a vinyl table cloth, and still put a hole in my mattress.
You would think that the state could repair the fish cleaning station by now. It has been roped off since last year. The majority of people that go there do so to fish, & that it would be to their adventage to keep the waste out of their garbage cans!
Sorry I don't have photos, but I'm a senior citizen still living in the dark ages. Maybe the next time my grandkids come over they can teach me how to load them up!
