I got to try a new (for me) method of kokanee fishing with Toni of Wannafishalure today. She taught me the essentials of still fishing, anchored up in one location. Being a die-hard troller I will admit, the first half hour was really tough. I kept thinking we should be moving! I eventually settled in and got down to business. Once I did and was able to relax and get into the swing of things I found still fishing to be quite enjoyable.
The fishing wasn't hot. We anchored in 46 feet of water, and worked our gear from bottom up the water column. It took awhile to get the hang of the bite, which is quite subtle and light. I caught one and lost a couple in the 10-12" range. Toni caught a couple, and also a beautiful 18" rainbow. I will say, kokanee are a lot of fun to catch using this method. They come straight to the surface and jump like crazy. I may need to do this again!
Thanks Toni for taking me out and showing me this method.

Sounds like you a fun time! Still something I have not tried myself for kokanee. Nice job on the 18" RB Toni way to go, I bet it will be a tasty one.

Thanks, still fishing looks easy but it isn't starting out. It was 16.5 inch maybe a triploid rainbow they planted in April.

Glad you got to try the kokanee still fishing Mike. Now come over for the night fishing at Loon if you want to add another dimension; wild, simply wild!

I know, it's a time issue. :-(
