I finally talked the wife into going fishing with me on my day off. We got her licence and headed to Knuppenburg, just west of the summit of white pass. I fished from a kayak, she fished from the bank. They had recently stocked it with Brown Trout according to WDFW. I tried spinners and bait and nothing worked!

So, on a whim, I said "lets go to Dog Lake." It was right on the way home. I'm glad I did. We both limited out rather fast on 10-13 inch Rainbow Trout. The wife had a blast!! And, I was glad to see her having a fun fishing trip. Tired of eating trout that I have been retaining due to swallowed hooks, I found an outlet for these fish, and I'm giving back too! The Union Gospel Mission gladly takes fish caught by anglers to feed the homeless. I am pretty stoked about this because I can help someone in need, and still partake in my favorite hobby!

Power Eggs of any color on the bottom, with plenty of weight and a foot of leader worked perfect.

I did well there last weekend, but the fish will be gone soon with everyone keeping so many.

We only kept what we deep hooked - which, unfortunately was our combined limit of ten. Where we were fishing, it was too shallow to get any spinners out to where the trout were, which is why we used power eggs. Otherwise, we would have caught and released.
