Spent some R&R at Lake Chelan with the wife, then my son and I ran over to Banks for one day. We rented a boat from Coulee Playland, and hit the areas of the lake that had been recommended on this site, and by the folks at Coulee Playland. Just can't get my head wrapped around Banks smallmouth fishing. Or walleye either, for that matter. We tried walleye first right across the lake from the Playland and joined a couple other boats there. We tried both drift/jigging and trolling with no results. Marked some fish, but didn't see any landed either.
We gave it about an hour then headed down the lake to chase SMB. We started at the lake side of Steamboat Rock and worked the cliffs from in close out to 70'. We caught a few dinks on cranks and worms but nothing worth even taking a picture of. After working our way most of the way back to Electric City we gave up on the Smallies and looked for some largemouth in some of the grassy coves. My son managed to catch a couple decent lmb on a "Whopper Plopper"--which is really a super cool floating lure with a rotating tail! All fish C&R.
Big weather front started moving in and when I saw the dark clouds and lightning we hightailed it back to Coulee Playland.
