The lake has been hit or miss lately and today was a pretty good hit. Fished for about three hours in the late morning and brought a handful of fish to the boat and lost a few more. We targeted the lake north of 520 between Hunt's point and Moss Bay and were marking fish on a regular basis. The lake is on the verge of setting up the summer thermoclines, surface temps were right at 70 degrees and I suspect come derby time, surface trolling will not be as productive as years past. The use of a flasher was the key today, and all the fish hit our gear while it was hugging the bottom, our first two fish came on a double hookup and drew the attention of an immature eagle. Could not have asked for a much better day, light winds, sunny skies and minimal boat traffic.

Of note, there seems to have been a significant perch die off in the area, we saw many floaters that appeared to be healthy mixed in with the normal number of floating, post spawn, stickelbacks. Also, the south side of the 520 bridge looks to have been cleared out with just one or two mooring buoys left near mid span. We didn't have time to try out the area, but it was good to see it finally clear. The east channel underpass of the 520 bridge looks to now be open for good, at least until the demolition of the old bridge begins.
