Well, after recovering from my huli two Sundays ago (aka buying new rods/reels) I decided to get back up and head out for another try at American Kokes. Hit the water at 0630 (sun was already up) and set the troll....first with a chartreuse Gamakatsu spinner flasher combo. Nothing. Switched over to ol' reliable (same Gamakatsu lure in pink) and immediately landed and released two small rainbows. Paddled around the west side of the island and scored a decent 12 inch rainbow. Continued on a back and forth pattern and was considering calling it a day when the rod really started dancing. Landed my first Koke of the season, about the same size as the rainbow. By then it was past 0900 and getting hot. Paddled back to the ramp and saw the WDFW giving a boater on the ramp his full attention. Cheers!
