Got off work early and decided to avoid rush hour traffic by hitting up lake Samamish. Made it to the lake around 4:40 strapped on my waders and hiked over to Issaquah creek. Sun was shining with a slight breeze and only one other angler fishing the north side of the creek. Posted up on the south side and cast a night crawler on a drop shot towards the weed line and had my first smallmouth by my forth cast, a dink with the fight of a trophy fish. Started working the current right beyond the drop off and kept getting robbed by the little perch. Casted out a little farther and noticed the bait fish freaking out so I figured that was a good place to be. A couple quick twitches and fish on, a nice 17" 2 plus lb smallmouth that looked like she was ready to pop. After her photo op revived her and cut her loose. By 6:15 I was back on the road headed home. Far better use of my time then sitting in my car.
