Got on the water at 5:45 am . Was a beautiful morning calm and clear with a slight mist rising off the lake .Sun rise was great as well , The fishing was a different story, very tough ,got a few small hits but no hook ups . All the other boats I talked to said pretty much the same thing with just a few caught. I tried every color and style of lure that I had along as well as different weights for depth .Most of the fish that I marked were now down to 30 feet instead of 20 . I think my problem was I couldn t put enough weight on to get deep enough and still feel the bite as I did get cleaned off a few times when I was deeper . I have started leaving hints around that a down rigger would make a very nice fathers day gift , lol . Left the water around 11 when skiers were starting to play on the water .

if you're long lining... i would use a 2oz weight to start, then go up to a 3 if additional weight is needed. It's gonna be tough at this point to catch them on the surface.

bummer, I suggest the cannon manual down rigger. Amazon sells them for $70. You can also buy the ball on there. They work great.
