Got to Lake Cassidy this am about 8 am and fished until 1:30pm. Lake was dead calm and boat launch and parking lot were full. I decided to go left at the launch and hug the lilly pads and try for some bass on top water. I saw some fish in the pads surfacing and took that as a good sign. I saw some fish jumping out front of pads too and cast toward a few swirls and sure enough got a hit on my top water rapala in perch. Landed one then another both small but on the board! Then cast by lily pads and some wood and bam big fish on! After a good fight landed a 14" bass. I stayed in same spot getting bites and swirls behind my bait...trick was they wanted it slow....cast wait for ripples to disappear wait wait wait then twitch then wait no wait some more...slow pattern worked best as I missed a few rollers when I moved it too quick. I got 8 on that side of the lake then took off rowing to the other side since it was still calm...was slower on east side until I found the pattern...the were surfacing in front of the pads but behind the pads close to reeds was where they were hiding. I stayed in the lily pads and moved my boat to one opening after another casting here and there and 20 fish landed including one big one 15" by 4" bass that I had to find my drag for as he jumped a few times. My best is 16" bass there and 20 Bass in a day is a new to me lake record. Caught all my fish on top water perch even got one swimming it back to the boat. Lost a few by moving the lure too soon and seeing a big roller behind it swim off. All in all a good day on the water.
