I had very limited time today... wind was somethin' awful and my little raft didn't like it at all. Had to laugh at myself... how silly it must look my rowing as hard as I could, hunched over to minimize wind resistance, and moving just a few inches. I was prepared for the wind though. Had two anchors to make sure I didn't sit in a boat that rocked back and forth or get twisted up. I made sure to bring something to cover my ears since the last time they just about froze off from the wind chill. Not gonna do THAT again. There were not a lot of fisherman out there, but I wanted to fish when I had the chance. Life is busy... and this was the hour I had so off I went!

I laughed even more when I rowed halfway out to my favorite spot and realized I had been so excited about getting out on the water that I'd forgotten my worms in the car! haha... the extra exercise certainly doesn't hurt. I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has done this before. *blush*

Once I got out... again... double anchored up, lines in the water... I had a couple of nibbles that felt more like catfish pulls than trout. The catfish have been plentiful in this lake so far this season and I've caught a couple of foot long catfish in the last month. This time, they didn't latch on and I had NO other bites at all...

I tried top fishing with a bobber and jigging from the bottom with worms. I decided not to use a lure since the wind was whipping through the poles and whistling. i figured it would make tossing a lure a bit more difficult. Pretty much ran out of time and had to get going.

A couple fellas fishing from the dock also had no luck. toward the end of my trip, I met up with a couple of friends who came out on their new boat (they had a fish finder and SAW the fish below them). They tried a bunch of different methods and didn't have any luck either.

i joked with them that perhaps... the fish are on to us!

I will try another day... and will remember to check for my bait before I leave the shore. Live & learn. ;)

(the pics are from a couple of weeks ago... figured I'd share)
