We fished Morton Slough from about 2 PM until 5 PM on Saturday and really got into some great perch! Silver and black colored jigs under a bobber tipped with a piece of crawler seemed to be the ticket. We did have to wade through some pea mouths and pike minnows, but left with a fair number of nice perch in the 12"+ range along with a couple around 10". Something bigger did take all of my gear at one point because we were using 2-4 lb test and I did not have my drag set properly. I saw only a flash and it could have been either a big bass or a very large pike minnow I suppose.
We also tried Frye Creek before going to Morton and only caught a few dinks. The water seemed to be even lower than usual. We saw several other people fishing who also were not having any luck. Could have been a variety or factors, but the slough just seemed to be better this time around.
