Launched at 07:30 from the state park. Started fishing just to the left of the launch. Having never fished Goodwin I only expected to catch small planted fish. I did! And plenty too! Getting a little tired of cookie cutter fish i switched to small plugs. Frog pattern Hot shot and a fire tiger. BAM! Double header and both fish are pigs! I grab the lightest rod afraid of a break off while my heavier rod bucks and jump. After the first fish is landed, I notice my other rod has stopped bouncing. I left the fish in the net and reeled in the other line. Turns out that the fish was still there, he was swimming under the boat. Landed the second fish and removed the hooks from both. I had no intention of keeping fish so i released them. I put the flatfish Back in and before i could pick up the other rod, line starts screaming off the reel. One big jump from a massive fish and pop goes my knot on the fluorocarbon leader. My bad.. I only had the one flatfish in ly bow so i was a little bummed. I cycled through my regular arsenal before finally setting up a dicknite dodger behind a 3/8 oz weightwith a double glow squid and #2 french blade. Two more hold overs to the boat and countless planters. I kept the last two pigs because tinfoil trout seemed like a decent dinner. In all i was not expecting this quality of fishing. Going back for sure! Keep an eye out for the big guy in the little Smokercraft!
