This report is for Thursday, April 9th. The walleye bite is strong right now on Banks Lake. But wow the fish are spread out and are in various depths. Yesterday we caught walleye in depths as deep as 45 feet and as shallow as 13 feet. The walleye are in various stages of the spawn, some done, some spawning, some still pre-spawn.

If you are planning a trip soon to Banks, I can't stress enough the importance of hitting multiple spots. Don't get stuck in one area, unless of course you're on them! If you are around fish they are eating. I see many boats fishing around Barker Flats, and there are still some fish there, but many of those fish have moved out of there.

Mack's Lure Smile Blade/Slow death hook combinations have been the ticket for me. Color wise? Chartreuse, greens, golds, and purples have all been effective. I'm using a whole nightcrawler and trolling at speeds of .6-.8 mph.

The fish have been running 16"-24" inches primarily, with a few fish up to 8 pounds and of course some undersized walleye as well.
