Had the day off so I decided to knock the dust off my gear and take my boat out for the first time this year to try out some of my winter upgrades. One of which is little Scott downrigger that's a whole new realm of fishing for me. Hit the lake around 7 and fired up my new sonar. It's amazing to see the benefits of upgraded electronics. Most of the fish were holding between 20 and 40 feet so I stacked the downrigger with a different offering on each rod and started trolling the west side of the lake near Stan Sayers. After 35 minutes I hooked into my first Cutthroat ever at 25 ft on a chartreuse hoochie then my second one 40 minutes later on a mini Brad's super bait with krill oil. Considering I've never fished with a downrigger or targeted cutthroat trout before it was a pretty good day.
