Had a very nice day on the lake today. Hit the water at 9:30 and started by making a typical east run to start off but with no luck. Fished a pass at the weather buoy, no luck. I did however see another guy grab one while I was over there. I moved on quickly though, because I was anxious to get to the North end because of its productivity for me over the passed week.

So I picked up my lines and headed north. It did not disappoint. About 10 minutes in the fish started hitting. And then hitting. And then hitting more! I had 5 in 40 minutes. I made my other runs for a few hours and had a great day all in all CRing 10 cutts/cutbows.

This week the fish I have been getting are higher up in the column than they were last week. Of the 10 I caught, only 2 were deeper down. Not to say you can't have success deeper down, I have just noticed a slight transition in the past several days in my hit counts being fewer when I am deeper.

Thanks for all the reports scottieb however those are not cuttbows in Sammamish. They are Cutthroats. to be exact they are costal Cutthroats. There are many subspecies. The lake is not stocked and these are a native strain of fish. The lake has to Rainbow trout so natural hybridization can not occur here between rainbows and cuts. This is a wonderful fishery so remember to only keep what you need these are native fish..

Interesting; I was under the impression from trout unlimited that there were actually no true rainbows in sammamish, only cuts (some resident, some coastal).

I almost never keep fish out of that lake for that reason exactly ;)

Sorry I meant to say No rainbows. So Sammish has only Cutthroats and of course the Kokanee that there are trying to bring back. So they do stock the Kokes.

Copy that. Yes, the Kokes are starting to do much better
