Well after a some heavy duty cleaning and waxing and installing almost everything I decided it was time for the maiden voyage for my new to me boat. Its a 2005 Weldcraft Maverick 182 DV with extended swim step transom with Suzuki motors on the back. Hit the lake about 12:45 pm and after waiting a few minutes for some guys to launch there boats and leave them in the way.....anyway got the boat it and decided to just push it off by hand..well my rope was not long enough but after some help got things done.
Headed around the lake just enjoy the drive and seeing how she ran. Super nice ride, turned on the new Lowrance elite 5 HDI and after a few minutes she was up and running and marking fish. I have never had a color ff so this is all new to me. Big upgrade from a Hummingbird 500 model.
Got the downrigger set up and pulled out the poles and got them ready to go I have a two pole endorsement and its worth every penny. Anyway after starting the trolling motor and getting underway I manage to catch a nice rainbow with my rod I got for christmas bonus was sunk off the boat and the rod!!!! Oh yah first fish in the boat I was excited it only took me about 15 min of trolling. Reset the line and trolled more and got another a bit smaller in size but still a nice RB trout. Decided to head south and got one more. On the west side by the solders home I had a few long releases, I figure my hooks are dull?? The boat ran great the FF worked really well saw a ton of fish all over the lake. No kokes for me today but maybe next time. I was just happy it all worked and I am going to like this boat for sure.
Packed it up about 4:30pm and headed home. All fish came on the Pink Ice from wanafishalure with a siver dodger tipped with corn running 13 ft on the wire. Can't wait to get back out and do it agian. If you see me out ther say Hello..
Tight lines,
Eric
