Headed out for a day of fishing with my dad and granddad at Potholes. Put in at the Lind-Coulee launch around 9 o'clock and trolled for a little while just out from the launch at the mouth of the Coulee. Didn't do any good so decided to head out into the main lake as the wind was dying down. Found a spot amidst all of the boats around the dunes and the mouth of Crab Creek. Trolled Wally- Pops with a full worm on a bottom bouncer a ways off shore in anywhere from 50 to 25 feet of water at about .5-.7 mph. Didn't do much good here, with a few perch bites. We decided to move towards shore and picked up a solid walleye bite and had him on long enough to just feel a couple head shakes. As we moved towards shore, we hit several shallow humps that held fish and found most of the walleye to be in 30 and 40 feet of water. Ended up catching one keeper walleye about 3 pounds and kept 5 fat perch. Threw back several smalleye and had many bites that wouldn't stick. Saw some people catching fish, one boat hooking into about a 10 pound walleye! Fishing seemed to pick up a little as the day went on and as boats began to leave. Got off the water about 3:30, right before most people began coming in. Not the fastest fishing I have ever experienced, but was still able to keep the skunk off the boat. Great weather and a great start to an early spring fishing season!
