Well I have been to American lake a few times this year so far and have come home empty most trips. I arrived and started fishing about 1pm and headed to the north end of the lake. I dropped my lines in just north of silcox Island and set the depth at 20' stacking two lines. I picked up two new poles and reels and still have not got the skunk off them yet. I had one reel spooled with the high vis P line and it was my lower stacked pole. It popped off almost right after I got them set but no fish so I reset and buried it in the clip. No luck after a minute or two it came unclipped again no fish. This time I used a big clip and ran it back down only to grab my top pole that was now on top with a nice size fish jumping on top splashing all over. I start reeling him in and he peels my line off. I tighten the drag more but just a little don't want to loose it. Get it all the way to the boat and realize I haven't even got the net out yet so make quick work of that and go to net the fish and it has other plans. Run under the boat almost hits the prop and runs 20 feet or so before he settles down and into the net he goes a nice size RB trout. I don't mind eating them and the wife loves them and well lets face it the Kokes have not shown them self's yet this year so in the cooler it went. That was the only action of the day.
I fished from 5 to 22' on the DR using flashers and wedding rings tipped with corn. The trout above came on the Glided Lily from Wanafishalure.com Toni makes some great products that seem to produce a ton of fish for me. I have tried others but always seem to come back for the sure thing that works for me.
Tight lines and be safe where your life jacket!! That water was cold 48 surface temp.
