Well decided to hit up American lake to see if the fish are going to start playing nice. Saw Toni of wanafishalure heading out in her truck. I stoped and talked to Cami and Glenn from F24 but they had no luck fishing all morning so looks like it might be a tough day but only time will tell. Arrived around 10:39 or so.
Hit the lake and headed out from the launch and dropped the lines in. Trolled all over my normal spots with no luck, I was marking tons of fish but nothing was willing to bit. The water temp was 47 with no real change anywhere I went in the main lake. I did see a few balls of kokes on the fishfinder at the bottom in 87 feet of water so I went down with my lines and change colors with no luck. Headed back to the cove at the north end of the lake and wham the rod goes off and its heavy so I take my time as I really want to put a fish in the boat. Took my time and as soon as I saw the fish I new it was a hog got really excited and a few runs later in the net he went. A nice 21" rainbow and that made my day! Caught on the wanafishalure bloodymary.
Trolled for a few hours more and had one more takedown but was gone when I picked up pole....it happens. The water seems to just be to cold right now or there just not hunger enough, I sure hope the decided soon to get active. I see other lakes are producing kokes.
Tight lines and remember to use your PFD that was is cold.
