This weather has been incredible for December, allowing for alternating golf and fishing outings. I had noticed at least two boats north of the I-90 bridge each time I headed to the golf course the last 2 weeks so Al and my grandson headed to the water this AM. I have fished for perch at Moses lake and Potholes for 34 years and today was absolutely the most incredible display of catching that I have ever seen. Not only numbers but size, with most greater than 10 inches and the largest 14.5 inches. It was not just us but the dozen other boats around us. It was great to see a number of young kids yelling in delight as they pulled in numerous fish. A sunny and windless morning provided a perfect setting. When we left at 1:00 PM we had to wait at the double launch as more boats were putting in. Swedish Pimples in silver or chartreuse were our weapons but I suspect anything or any color would have worked. We started with a small piece of night crawler then switched to a perch eye which rarely required a change. Unfortunately I think the entire lake will be iced over in 1 or 2 days preventing additional outings for awhile.

Good to hear the fishing has picked up with the cycle containing a good number of large fish.

I have never fished in Moses. Where do you launch from? Thanks - Alan

Launch at Blue Heron Park (state park), or Peninsula launch. A 4x4 to launch with is handy when the water is down, avoid backing straight down the launches cause they drop of dramaticly at the end of the concrete. Many trailer axels have fallen pray to this. Just check things out first, and you will be fine.

Thanks fishindoc! I am in the Tri-Cities and was going to try Potholes but read your report and gave it a try. You were spot on, today was another great day. Biggest perch I have seen in a while - consistently. If it gets cold tonight, I think the boat fishing might be done. I had to break through ice to get to the Heron park area. The south part of the lake it totally frozen over. Keep your line wet and thanks again, you made two guys very happy they read your report!
