Hadn't planned on fishing Saturday, but late Thursday night got a call from my youngest son, Wesly, mostly to chat, but also to tell me that he had a rare day off on the weekend... works full time and full time at college. Of course I would change all plans to fish with my son for a day. Told him about the phenomenal fishing at Green Lake and it was a "go"! We arrived at the east shoreline about 7:15 AM, lines in the water at 7:30. Temp a chilly 47 degrees, raining. Water temp at the shoreline was 60 degrees. Fishing with fl. orange Power Eggs. Just a bit before 8:00, Wes had a big hit and reeled in a beautiful 16" Rainbow holdover. Had pretty consistent action on 4' to 5' leaders and the fl. orange PE, until about noon when the bite died. I had eight Steelhead ranging from 11" to 14", Wes had five beside his big trout. Tried about everything in the tackle bag after noon, but each of us could manage one more fish apiece. I caught mine on a Panther Martin spinner, Wes on the PE. Was amazing how the bite just turned off, for everyone so far as we could see, as there were many other fishermen nearby, and no one caught fish after noon. I had checked the barometer before we left in the morning and it had risen slightly over night... upon returning home, however, I found that it had been in free-fall all afternoon... probably the reason for the change in the fish's attitude.
Anyway, we fished until 4:00 and went home with sixteen gorgeous fish between us. Spent a wonderful and these days, rare day, fishing with my son... life is really, really good. I am greatly blessed... what an incredible young man I have for a son!! Thank God for the hours we spent together on lake and stream learning to love the sport of fishing, and creating a bond that extends for years on the journey. Now have enough fish to fill my smoker, so a couple of days in brine, and will fire up the smoker this week. PTL!

Awesome report! Glad you had a great father & son time. I'm looking forward to some fishing time with my boys as we'll. Tight lines!

hooksetjou... Thank you... and enjoy your sons... they grow up way too fast. You will never find better fishing partners. Be patient with them, teach them to enjoy all of creation (birds, bugs & all) and they will be hooked for life on the sport we love so much! PTL!
