We decided to go to Potholes the 11th thru 13th, we hadn't fished there for a couple of years. Saturday was pretty windy so we didn't go out. Got a late start on Sunday, didn't hit the water until 11, but that didn't seem to matter-we started trolling by Medicare Beach and started catching fish right away. Lots of small walleye and some large perch. Caught a couple of 15" fattie walleye and were marking large schools of fish. I guess they were wallys, we would troll thru and catch some of the smallest ones I have ever seen...4-5". Not wanting to waste our worms feeding the little guys we moved on to the mouth of Crab Creek. We ended up with 8 15-20 inch walleye and 20 nice-sized perch. And the biggest crappie I've ever seen-16". Monday we went back to the same spot, kept another 9 walleye and 16 large perch, threw back many more. Also threw back a nice bullhead. Caught another nice crappie, this one was 11". All the walleye we kept were 15" and over. The 12-13" ones were legal, but not much meat for the size so we decided to go for quality over quantity. The keepers were really nice and heavy.
Caught all the fish trolling worm harnesses in darker colors, depth was anywhere from 3-35 feet. A great weekend! Talked to a local who said that this has been one of the best fall walleye/perch seasons that he has seen for a long time. Get 'em while they're biting!
