That marine layer in the morning. Feels good, until the boat starts moving. Had to put on my sweater.

1st cast at 8:30AM. Started off with a swimbait in ~10' of water and working towards the shallows. Nothing but perch, so started to back out into deeper water. Rotating between setups and I get a bite in 12' of water on DS.

A pretty decent start, 20 mins and I get a 18" bass weighing 2lb 13oz. Knucklehead flopped out of my net. Belly looked full.

Zig zag that area looking for more, but perch are relentless. I shuffle away about 30 yards and I get another bite on the DS. Again, it's a pretty nice bass at 17". This one was bleeding pretty badly for some reason. Couldn't tell where it was bleeding from. The hook was on the corner of it's mouth too. Maybe the hook started off deeper and then "hooked" on the mouth, don't know. So I released it quickly to let it heal. This one also flopped out of my net. Belly was also full.

After releasing the fish, I made pretty much the same cast with the DS and I get another bite right away! This one also feels decent. It jumps up and the first thing I noticed was, the vertical markings are very dark on this bass. This one stayed in the net. 16" SMB.

So in 50 mins of fishing, I've caught 3 pretty decent bass, was stoked! I'm thinking sweet, on my way to another 4-rating trip! One downside is, the bass are destroying my bait. I'm barely getting 1 fish per bait. But if they work, they work I guess.

I continued working that area for another 5-10 mins when I had a gentleman in a tiller boat come by me. He was fishing nearby and swung around me to the other side. After about 5 more mins without a bass bite, I left that area for him.

Fished for 1.5 hours without a bass. Even tied on a jig and trailer. I've yet to catch a single fish on a jig and today kept that streak alive.

I'm starting to creep towards my "Fart hole". I'm maybe 15 yards away. Get a tap on my DS in 8' of water. An ok bass @ 14". What was interesting was, this one spit out it's breakfast. I think it's a perch.

I get to my Fart Hole and catch 2 there. Both small ones. One at 13" and the other ~10".

After the 10"er, I was grabbing my line to fix the lure to cast out again when I noticed my lure is missing.... I then see my hook is broken. 1st time this has happened to me while fishing. I've broken a couple of the tiny treble hooks when I'm trying to rip them out of the fish, but a single hook. New to me. Not sure what happened. I remember I was dangling the fish overboard and grabbed the hook by the pliers and turned and shake. I wonder if the partial hook is still in the dink.

Sun is now starting to break through the clouds.

I boated away to a different spot. Caught a couple of dinks on DS. Saw 2 larger, ~15-16" swimming in the same group, but they wouldn't bite.

Working my way around, I catch a small perch on a fresh worm and it shakes the worm off. Pissed me off, but I see the perch is hooked perfectly up on top.... Instead of grabbing my pliers and removing the hook, I let line out and try and let the fish shake itself off....

A few seconds later, I see something dart and swat at the perch, but miss.

I reel it back in and see it's still attached and wont let go. So I dropped it back down to the bottom and jiggle it to try and release it and fish on! A small SMB ~12". It had a bigger buddy with him too, ~15-16". I see the perch fling off and last seen, swimming away.

Caught a few more dinks on DS. Started throwing a craw plastic and got several nips, from what I assume perch. Caught a few perch on cranks.

Started to get hot out and headed in.

#killing it

Great pictures, and report as always. I needed the motivation!

What kind of fish did that bass cough up?

I want to say it's a perch, but not 100% sure.
