You won't find Mahi Mahi around here, but we do have great fishing here in the Pacific Northwest. You'll learn quickly... salmon season is just beginning. American Lake is a great fishery. Enjoy... especially the times out with your son! Thanks for your service to our great country! PTL!

Stansjoy. I'd live to snag a Salmon on that spinning rod. I'm sure it will be as much fun as mahi mahi. Just need to learn how and not break these WA laws while I'm doing it.

8/3/2014 11:32:00 PMWelcome to Washington Rob and family. There are a lot of nice trout in the lake you can catch trolling slow with a dodger and hootchie or wedding ring. If you look at past reports for the lake there a lots of pics of peoples gear along with their fish pics.There are still some kokanee being caught and I am told they will start biting again soon. The salmon runs are supposed to start in Puget sound in next few weeks. If you watch the reports for area 11 and 13 you will know when people start catching them and the run is here. There are boats for rent at Point Defiance Marina in Tacoma and fishing from the pier there. http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/pointdefiancemarina . Hope to see you on the lake and good luck.
