Spent about 3 hours on the dock Wednesday night, around 6-9. Tried a variety of lures, mostly by the lily pads, some out in open water. Zero bites. Briefly tried a bobber by the lily pads, again nothing. I understand very limited ground to cover, but I was hoping for at least a nibble. Two kids on the dock with powerbait and a sinker caught a few trout. I have no interest in trout, especially planted trout. Given the number of casts I made, I guess trout in this lake, at least by the dock, are so hatchery brain damaged that they wont hit a spinner. Or anything other than hatchery food really. Two other guys on the dock, one with marshmallows and sinker about 2 hours, one with corn and sinker I think the 3 hours I was there, also got zero bites. Probably wont return to this lake without a boat.

The trout were hitting spinners when they first planted the lake. As the season goes on they "wise up" and decide not to chase the food source.

Only seen a couple bass caught off that dock. North end of the lake and around the island is suppose to be littered with bass however.

Maybe the North end using a float tube? Anyone ever try that?

I have fished Ballinger for LMB a number of times via float tube. Always been a disappointment.
But of course, others have prob. caught some.
