Spent Independence Day/Weekend on the Long Beach Peninsula. Had intended on fishing Loomis Lake but by accident "Driver error" stumbled on Island Lake. Was pleasantly surprised, very pretty lake and certainly looks what I can only describe as "bassy". Plenty of downed timber, lillypads, weeds etc. Due to camping gear my tackle box was packed very light. Chucked a spinnerbait followed by a crankbait. No such luck for me but I gave this report an extra point as it had signs of life. We did see a few largemouth roaming around and some surface activity. Water was stained, had a crimson like color. Will try this lake as well as Loomis again in the future.
Took a few pictures that I will send to WaLakes for the overview shortly. Now headed down to Mayfield.

Hi Kevin, Nice to hear a report on that Island Lake. I have fished it a few times from a canoe back in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Caught several largemouth bass but nothing very big. My records show the best fish at only 1 pound, 9 ounces. Nice quite lake with no shoreline homes.

Hey Bob, Sorry for the delay. Been out on vacation doing some camping. I was pleasantly surprised by this lake, really pretty. After I sold our property in Ocean Park, we rarely get down there but I hope to fish this and Loomis a bit more in the future.

Hi Kevin, I have done quite well on Loomis - bigger fish than Island or Black Lake. Black Lake also has a public access and some largemouth bass and is down there in the same area.
