On the water around 6 AM. Nice day, calm wind. I caught five bass(1, 1/12, 2 and 2 @2 1/2). The first fish was on sparse, shallow pads at 8:30(north side). My first pad fish in this lake. The other fish were caught between 10:30 and 12:30 on south (opposite Rainbow Resort) side. I tried swim baits and jerk baits but mostly threw black/blue jigs and 5" Senkos in green pumpkin. All fish came on the Senko. Man, they like that lure and color. Other than the first fish, all fish came off of docks. All strikes were aggressive. I'm still tying to figure this lake out. I can't get them to take anything but the Senko. Not that I'm complaining but it would be nice to get them to take something else. Next trip I'm going to try buzz baits and frogs too. I'm still looking for the big one(aren't we all?).

Me and one of my friends frog fish this lake all the time. yesterday he caught a 2.11lb and a 1.5lb on a black spro frog. i havent had much luck with buzzbaits. We fish the camp lakeview side usually right off of the dock in the pads. But have had hits all over the lake.

Try a slow moving aggressive topwater like a jitterbug, devil's horse, or the like that is even more aggressive/noisy then those. A spook should be ok, altho I've never tried a spook on Tanwax, I don't think. The only spinnerbait style I've used there is a single Colorado blade, in black with a white single tail grub trailer. Use it in as many different techniques that you can think of, not just a straight retrieve, also let it sink, I've done better when it's deep along the outside pad line and such. But like I posted in the other report I haven't fished Tanwax since the '90s. Hope the lake hasn't totaly changed like Sawyer pretty much has since the mid '90s.
