Morning on the lake was cool, breezy, and cloudy. Looked like it might rain actually.

Lake is a little too breezy for my liking, so I tucked myself along a protected shoreline and tried fishing it. Caught 1 early on. Maybe ~15" SMB.

I didn't even feel the take, on a wacky senko. It was right next to a boat lift. Just saw line moving. Continued along this shoreline for 20 mins without another bite, so I left that area to find another protected shoreline.

I kept seeing those same damn fingerlings everywhere I go. It's an all you can eat buffet right now. Hard to compete against that. I happened to look in my tacklebox and see my kastmasters. I have one that's almost the perfect size and profile. So I started throwing that for about 15 mins. I think it was my 2nd cast, I had 2 SMB at about ~6" and a ~17" trout chasing and fighting for my lure, LOL. Looked like all 3 were able to strike my lure, but wasn't able to connect.

I was only able to land a small squawfish with the kastmaster. Had lots of bites on it, but couldn't hook them with the siwash hook.

I was skipping my wacky under several docks and see a decent, ~2lb SMB look at my offering, but turned away.

I decided to downsize and started dropshotting a 3" lure. Skipped it under there and there goes my line! Fishing on! It does a little jump and pop goes the hook. Doh!

Oh wells, I continue on and get another SMB. This time, between an empty boat lift and dock. A very dangerous spot with 6# test..... And connected right when it got to the bottom and managed to wrangle it out of there and into the net. Best fish of the day, ~16" @ 2lb 4oz.

I switch off with a small swimbait too.

For a stretch there, I couldn't buy a bite. Then out of nowhere, I get a pretty nice perch in about 3' of water on my swimbait. This perch.... it tried to get my boat pregnant........

I went to one of my honey holes from last year. Nothing was happening around it. It's been maybe 2hrs without a bass. Water was calm around this area. But the wind started to pick up. I fan casted in about 6' of water and got a couple of strikes on my swimbait but couldn't connect. The 3rd time, I finally connect and it's a decent SMB. ~15". I cast into the same spot with similar angle a couple of times and BAM! Another fish on! ~14" SMB. Both of these, the lower fins are red and raw. Do it again and BAM! 1 more. But it's shrinking, looks to be about 13".

I tried for another 10 mins in the general area, but that's it I guess. So when the wind picked up, I was able to catch 3 SMB in about 5-10 mins.

I then boated to the opposite side of the lake and started working a wind blown side point. Well, all I caught was squawfish on this point. Must have been a school of them. Caught 2 within minutes of each other and lost a 3rd one.

Called it a day.

Sounds like an ok day. I had a 2 lbder take my senko this morning, and as you said I didn't feel a thing at first. I retrieved the worm slowly out from under the dock and just led the fish along with just a little pressure on the fish. He finally swam sideways and started to battle, then I brought him on in. Saw a 3 when I hung up my senko on a wall, spooked the fish and she was gone. Probably the same fish that got off my crankbait yesterday. Darn, I wanted that fish, and was trying for her which is why I fished that spot today. So now I have 4 spots to go for next time on the lake. i also got an 18" or 20" rainbow that SLAMMED my crankbait in a spot I lost a 3 lb smallie the other week - lost her twice in 2 days.

since the baitfish have appeared we have done well with white belly cranks thrown right through the schools of dancing minnows. half the hookups happen the second the crank hits the water.

I have a pretty sweet video of the fingerprints, just don't know how to add it into the report.
