Fished the south end of cda yesterday. Three of us picked up a total of 16 pike in various locations. Brandon has solidified his position of big squaw fish king!
In search for a pike he was throwing a 1 1/8 oz Johnson Silver minnow spoon and landed the hard fighting 5 1/2 lb squaw fish in the photo.
Pike were all shallow and fell prey to the soft plastic frogs once again. water temps were from 46 to 58 throughout the day where we were.

Hey AJ , we were in Cave yesterday after bass and the pike were all over our rubber worms. Buddy was using mono and got broke off multiple times but my braid did much better and we each landed a couple. Not as big as my tiger but they were alot of fun.
Happy fishing

Glad to hear you call it a squawfish.Pike minnow makes it sound noble instead of something you throw in the bushes to feed the coyotes.I never release them alive, who knows how many salmon and steelhead I've saved.
Nice couple of pike, only caught one in my life and it was about 6" long.

Ruffneck. If you go to a 50lb flourocarbon leader, you can land some of those bonus pike that take your worms and it doesn't seem to bother the bass too much. I get a lot of bass when I'm pike fishing using flouro leaders. What water depths were you fishing when you located the pike?

We were hitting the pike in 3ft. of water pretty much where you would expect Bass to hit, was actually alot of fun not knowing what was going to hit next. first time i have fished the Couer dalene area in over a decade. My partner needs to upgrade to the 50LBS. he has the Mono, i was using 50 Lbs. fireline.
