Arrived at the lake about 9 AM and was pleased at first sight looking out onto the lake's surface. Last Friday (9/20), found the lake's surface inundated with large patches of green slim which made maneuvering on the lake a challenge. After getting out onto the lake, I was aware the lake had a green algae growth just under the surface resembling green cotton candy. Thought for a instance that I was on a golf course rather than a lake.
Nevertheless, decided to troll a black carey special on a sinking line out to the far end of the lake hoping for better conditions down lake but the same conditions existed everywhere. After about 1 hour, decided to call it quits and head back to the launch area when took strike from a nice 14 inch bow. Decided to troll a bit longer when the wind started to blow a bit and within the next hour the green solid cotton candy cover started to break up. Eventually took 2 other bows about 14 inches trolling the carey fly. Although I was able to catch 3 fish, I found myself needing to clean the green slim from the fly repeatedly. Decided to call it quits about 1 PM.
