My friend and I arrived at the gate on Scotty rd at 6:20 am and made it to chitwood at 7:00, I started off casting an olive woolley bugger on my fly rod, he tried a black woolley bugger on a flyrod, after about 15 minutes I see this large fish come up from the depths and had a split second to prepare for the strike, and just as it gulped up my fly I set the hook hard and started fighting it. After 2-3 minutes I brought in a slender but hard fighting cutthroat that taped 15" after that it died down 15 minutes later we called it quits at chitwood and continued our hike to our true destination.
We arrived at Hanson at around 9:30 I spot a nice grassy pad area to stand on and my friend and I proceeded to nail trout one after the other, I with a 1/4Oz gold cast master, him with a firetiger/gold 1/4Oz castmaster. We ended our day at about 1:30pm he limited with 2 12" cutts and 3 12" Brooks, and I limited with my 15" cutt from chitwood, a 13 3/4" cutt, a 12 1/2" cutt, a 12" cutt and a 12" brook from Hanson. We both released alot of trout, I would guess we released around 10 trout each cutts and Brooks.
When we gutted the fish my 13 3/4" trout which was ridiculously fat, had 5 undigested whole frogs in it's stomach... We were astounded by this find, then my friend opened one of his fish to find 2 frogs in it's stomach! Some fish had tiny snails in it's stomach.some had little bugs some had small fish skeletons, needless to say these fish were well fed.
It was an awesome trip, looking forward to my next return trip .
