Decided to try out a different lake today so I drove on down to Mapely Valley to fish Wilderness Lake. I was on the water and line wet at 7:15am. My target species was kokanee but they seemed to be non existent until about 10am. I was about 10-15 feet down with my wiggle hoochie and kokanee special scented corn. I went 0/4 on the kokes losing all of them very close to the toon. They all came in a 1 hour window and the bite for them was gone. They are looking mighty plump I must say. I proceeded to catch some healthy looking rainbows one being 17 iches and FAT. I kept 2 more in the 15 inch range and called it a day.
I also wanted to mention that I was trolling in the middle of the lake and thought I got snagged so I turned my toon around and headed towards where I was "stuck." As I was pulling up and reeling in line just under my boat a HUGE fish black in color from the brief flash I got, could have been dark blue, started making a run. I couldnt even keep up and it ended up destroying the trail hook on my hoochie. I have no idea what species it was but all I know is there was no head shake when I hooked into it and it felt like dead weight. When it took off I thought my rod was going to snap. Whatever it was I am now on a hunt for it. Tight Lines to ya all!!!!
