It was a nice day today. Planned a picnic, after my domestic partner got off from work, on the lake. So I took the opportunity to fish in the afternoon until that time.
I've been to Sammamish twice this month, with no fish to show for it. Did witness 1 SMB caught last outing by SammamishYak.
Anyways, I think I started fishing at about 12:30PM. I notice the water temp is up. Was ~50-51 last time. Now it's at 55. Sunny skies. Nice wind, just enough, without it getting too crazy.
Cant use my cranks yet bc of the single hook rule still in place until the end of the month. So nothing but soft plastics for me. Started off deepish. ~25' or so. . And kept working my way towards the shallow. Finally get a strike and fish on at about 12'. First fish of the year. WOOT!
Just a small SMB at about 14".
Working same depth and I get a better strike with fish on! ~17" 2lb 9oz SMB.
Continue along and get 2 more in the ~13-14" range, 1 which popped off right at boat size as I was trying to net. Close enough to count!
Met up with my partner at 4PM and we drifted while eating our picnic lunch that I packed for us. Watched the rowers for a bit. Then we fished for about 30 mins without a bit. Terrible conditions during that time, but we gave it a try.
Water temp hit 60 by that time.
