I was the second in the lot today and that surprised me. I got there around 5:30am and was fishing about 6am. Catfish(-er) was first. Nice to meet you.
I was stacking on the downriggers at 10 and 20 foot down. Using what worked at American Lake. Gilded Lily and I put on the Pink Splatter combo that worked last year. I headed south out of the launch and when I was by the dock without a house, I turned east. After 30 minutes I switched to a little green lure I am trying out and the Agitator in green with Dick Nite Dodgers in Watermelon and Chartreuse Hot Head both in UV. I got my first kokanee within 10 minutes after changing but I had also dropped my downrigger to 23 feet. I felt pretty good because that kokanee came off at the net...into the net!! I got a total of 2 circling in the vicinity of the big white house on the north side of the lake. I lost another one.
I was also testing my battery out since I put distilled water in it. But after an hour it had slowed a little while I was on number 3. I had already bought another one but it was home charging.
I wasn’t getting hits on the stacked line so I put 1/2oz on it and pulled out 50 pulls. This way it was active, too.
I decided to head over toward the west side of the lake by the brown house. As I was on my way I got another one. I started circling and got the rest of my limit and done around 7:30am. My first visit this year to Clear Lake and it didn’t disappoint me. It was partly cloudy after a couple of stormy days and now we have nice weather in the forecast with days in the high 70’s -80.
These fish are fit and slim, at 9.5-11 inches, compared to American Lake porkers at.
